Marshall leads charge for Champlain Valley

Tyler Marshall of Champlain Valley was a force to reckon with at the Vermont Division 1 State Championships in Burlington. The junior distance runner won the 800 (1:57.45), 1,500 (4:16.51) and 3,000 (9:22.48) to score 30 points and lead his team to a state title with 109 points.
- Ismail Liban from Burlington rolled to D1 titles in the 200 (22.48) and the 400 (49.75).
- Sophomore Jasper Reed of Brattleboro Union swept the long (20-11.75) and triple jump (42-1.50) D1 titles.
- Jonathan Fisher of Mt. Mansfield Union swept the D1 titles in the hurdles -- taking the 110s in 15.27 and the 300s in 41.30.
- The St. Johnsbury girls scored 154.70 points to win the Division 1 crown. Sophomore Katherine Cowan led the way with victories in the 200 (26.03) and the 100 hurdles (15.54).
- Burlington senior Eva Paradiso won the 1,500 (4:51.18), placed second in the 800 (2:23.62) and ran on the third-place 4x4 relay squad (4:14.82).
- Essex senior Amanda Sinkewicz claimed the shot put (36-3.50), discus (122-2) and javelin (124-2) titles.
- In Division 3 action, the Bellow Falls Union boys won with 148 points, while the girls made it a sweep with 111 points, outlasting Oxbow (108).
- Oxbow sophomore Izzy Giesing claimed the D3 400 (60.57), 800 (2:25.43) and 1,500 (4:58.32).
- Bellow Falls Union freshman Michelle Marchica won the Div 3 triple jump title (32-9).
- Montpelier junior Matt Hynes was impressive sweeping the Division 3 distance events, winning the 800 (2:02.98), 1,500 (4:22.43) and 3,000 (9:53.71).
- The Northfield girls (121) and boys (90) both won Division 4 team titles.
